Fall Plaid with Ted Baker, J Crew, & Gucci

     This past Friday I was asked to help judge an Edgar Allan Poe themed fashion show for the Sacramento Film & Music Festival.  Sacramento's young fashion talent represented well and I was honored to be a part of the festivities.

     Although it is still hot in Northern California, I've started breaking out the fall lineup but balanced the heat with lighter fabrics such as this Ted Baker linen blazer.

On The Run with hook+ALBERT

     In the short time that I've been blogging, I've had the pleasure to work with great companies such as hook+ALBERT.  Lapel pins + flowers are currently all the rage, but h+A was the first to introduce this men's accessory to me.

     They asked me to do a shoot and answer the simple question, "Why are men's wear accessories important?"

     My reply: "Unlike women, men don't have many options when it comes to accessorizing and styling an outfit.  We are limited to watches, wallets, or shoes, to name a few, but lapel pins + flowers have given men the opportunity to step up their fashion and bring back the days when being a gentlemen counted for something."

::Blue Blazer:Look Two::

     Update:

     This is part two of a three part shoot.  In shoot one, I dressed up the blue blazer (::Blue Blazer:Look One::).  This look is the in between of the dress up or dress down versatility of the blue blazer.

     I did a similar look last fall, pairing the blazer with white denim.  You can honestly pair it with any type of denim, but if the blazer is trim and fitted, then keep the denim looking the same way.  White denim is a great look during the day, then throw on a dark pair for a night look.

Spring Fever

Yesterday Spring officially sprung. While some of us are spring cleaning, some of us are coveting the trends and outfits we can wear with warmer weather. I know I'm into it after a cold winter! Anyway, we've got a really great mix this week. From learning what exactly "Haute Couture" means, to various explorations of all the Spring Trends for this year, some really great remixes how to take it all in with your camera phone. ::Blue Blazer:Look One::

     In my last article (::About Time::), I mentioned the wristwatch as an essential to any wardrobe.  Another staple to any closet is the blue blazer.  The blue blazer is a highly versatile piece that can be dressed way up or way down.

     The key is to not necessarily buy an expensive one, but rather buy one that fits immaculately and of high quality materials.  

     In this first look, I dressed up the blue blazer.  Mixing a blue blazer with any business casual outfit will instantly make you stand apart from the rest of the crowd.

     I was in San Francisco this past week for SF Pillow Fight 2013.  Let's just say it was an interesting sporting event.  Shopping is a must when I'm in town.  Scotch & Soda is one of my favorite brands right now and they recently opened up a boutique, so I had to check it out.  Think of their style as everyday staples, but with a little edge.  Definitely a must stop shop if you're ever in The City.

     It's always a little suspicious when you walk into a store holding pillow cases, but the guys there were great and super friendly.  Networked with Josh, one of the workers there that designs men's accessories on the side.  Will hopefully be working with him and showing his designs in a future shoot.  

     I planned on doing a shoot, but didn't really know what to wear.  The Boss has been hounding me to get some distressed jeans.  Scotch & Soda to the rescue.  It's always a tough balance between quality distressed jeans and looking like a meat head or old dude rocking jeans well past his distressed jeans prime.

Yes, that's the tag still on the shoe.  Oops.

     

     
     The shirt-jacket is a great Spring transition piece.  Workman safari style jacket was a great clash against the street jeans and formal split toe shoes.  The jacket is similar to Carhartt's attempt to tap into fashion.

After the shoot, I found this great wool flower lapel pin.
It added a great pop of color and visual interest.
