Two Guys' Bowtie

The Two Guys' Bowtie
The Two Guys Bowtie

          Originality can be difficult to find in the world of fashion.  A designer may bring back a forgotten trend or put their own twist on a current style but true original concepts are rare.  African Zeebrawood, Peruvian Walnut, and South American Bocote.  No I'm not talking furniture but rather about two guys out of Oklahoma producing wood apparel.

          Wool, cotton, and silk.  Sure we've all heard of these classic clothing materials, but wood?  That's right, wood as in hard and non-pliable, the opposite of what we normally hear characterize clothing.  Developed in Oklahoma, it took two guys out of middle America with the love for fine craftsmanship and menswear to come up with the concept of combining exotic woods with old timeless classics such as the bowtie and lapel pins.  In a relative short time span, Two Guys'Bowtie has already received national attention from E!, James Wolpert of The Voice, and multiple members of the NBA (most famously Mike Conley's hat during 2014 NBA Playoffs).

          Not for the everyday chap, but if you're ready to venture into the original, then check out Two Guys' Bowtie.  Whether it's a simple lapel flower, a bowtie, or even a custom design piece, think wood next time you reach for an accessory.

Vintage Casual: Farm and Prohibition Inspired

     One of my favorite ways of relaxing is heading out to wine country and just taking in the beautiful landscape while enjoying a nice glass of wine.  I avoided touristy Napa and headed over to Healdsburg where there's smaller wineries, but not of any less quality, and often, you get the opportunity to meet the owners.  If you have the opportunity to head out this way, make a stop at Viszlay Vineyards,  John, the owner, is always welcoming, has a great story, and of course makes amazing wines.

     The inspiration behind this post was vintage, prohibition times, and farm life.  Because of the hard work and farm life that is involved in wine making, it was only fitting to mix the previous mentioned styles into the latest post.

     Hope you guys enjoy the look and thank you for reading.  Don't forget to "follow" me on Facebook and Instagram where I often post random content that's not on here.

Beach Look with J Crew, Parke and Ronen, and Topman

     On a random weekend, I decided to take a road trip to Santa Cruz for the day.  Weather.com said 76 degrees and sunny, well that was a lie because it was 66 degrees and cloudy.  Luckily there was no wind so at least it was comfortable and I made the best of it.

     I would be at the beach every single day if it weren't for the fact that I live in valley.  There's nothing more relaxing than laying on the beach and taking a nice swim in the waves.  Whenever I hit the beach, it is all about bright colors and relaxed gear.

Thank you for reading and don't forget to "like" the Facebook page.

::Suit Up::

     I rarely get to wear a suit, but I've recently had the opportunity for New Year's and an interview.  Suiting up for a party is a whole lot different than professionally.  I’ll focus on how to suit up professionally in this post with a few do’s and don’ts.

     An interview is no place to show off your fashion sense.  The focus should be on professionalism and showing that you can fit in but at the same time stand out and bring something to the table.  For these reasons, the best colors are white, blue, and black.

     The big key to a suit is that it has to look as though it was fitted for no one else but you.  No matter the brand or price point, most suits have to be tailored.  IT'S THE FIT, NOT THE BRAND.

::Top::
     The shoulders should not go past your natural shoulder line.  Modern fits use high arm holes.  This does two things:
(1) elongate the torso and (2) define your silhouette more.
     The shirt sleeve should fall where your wrists dent in.  The coat sleeve should be about 1/2" to 1" shorter than the shirt.

::Don'ts::
     At the interview, I saw one person button every single button.  Never button the last button, no matter if it is a two button or three button suit.  Letting it flow creates the "V" silhouette.
     At the New Year's party, I'm not sure if the guy didn't know or didn't notice, but he left the stitching that held the back vents together.  Always take the stitching off the vents.

::Color::
     Remember, an interview is no place to flaunt your fashion sense.  Think simple, yet powerful.  You want to show that you understand professionalism, but can still think outside the box.
     Stick to black or dark blue suits.  Stay away from flat black, you're not going to a funeral.

     For the tie, I went with a dark grey.  I didn't go with black because I'd look like the Blues Brothers.

     Invest in a quality folio.  You want a place to keep your resume if needed.

::Pants::
     For a modern fit, tell your tailor you want little to no break in your hem.  You don't want your pants bunching up at the bottom, nor do you want them hiding your shoes.  It looks clumsy and unfinished.

     Caring about your look shows you will care about your work.
