Camo::Urban

I've recently been inspired by camo but have been having a hard time knowing how to wear it.  There was a print ad on Nordstrom website that sparked my interest.  Designers have been using camo from everything from bags to different clothing items.  I decided to go conservative with pants and pair it with various other heavy items.  Because the camo is such a bold statement piece, I needed to ground it with heavy material and prints.

The Fair Isle print scarf and plaid calmed down the outfit.  The heavy wool jacket pulled everything together.

I chose to go with heavy camp socks to blend the utilitarian feel of the pants.  Paired dark distressed suede chukkas to ground it all out.

English Country Hipster

I love the hipster look, but it’s regulated to the young crowd.  To me, the hipster look takes its cues from the prohibition days mixed with some English Country.  To update it and make it more age appropriate, I mixed more of the English Country.  It’s all about print and textures.  The suspenders, bow tie, and colored socks make it hipster, but the textural shirt and tweed keeps the outfit from looking like I’m holding onto my 20s.

Layering in Carmel

Was tired of the American Prep I'd been doing for Fall and Winter. I was out in the Monterey area for a drive event, so I needed to look the part. Paired a light weight military jacket with a vest. White henley and blue chinos broke up the neutral palette. Drive cap and high ankle boat shoes pulled everything together. Click on each photo for fashion credits.
